12 tags of 2016 for October

This is my tag for the Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016 Challenge. Once I got a start on this one it was such fun to do.  I did want it to have the Halloween theme. I had to give some thought as to how I was going to incorporate the techniques that Tim used in his tag this month.  I did love his tag this month with the "Monster" thinlet but, I did not own that one and sadly I think it is hard to get now.  

The two remixed techniques that Tim highlighted this month were Patchwork Collage and Dimensional Monster.  I used a Halloween themed stamp as a base for my collage then, added the ephemera pieces to create my background.  I decided that one of the Crazy Dogs would have to play the starring role in the place of the dimensional monster.  I did add the foiled and embossed panel as a backdrop for him.  To dress the tag up and add more interest I used a few of the remnant rubs and industrious stickers. 
Below is a Halloween card for a close friend using the basic ideas from my tag.   I enjoy sending Halloween cards to people who love the spooky , fun holiday.

Fun Christmas Critter Cards

If you follow my work at all you know I love using whimsical image on my cards. No surprise that among my top favorite stamp companies is Penny Black.  I thought I would share with you a few of my latest cards for this season using Penny Black stamps, some old and some new.

This first one is made using "Snowy"  who is both old and new again.  I am not sure what year he was first released but this year PB came out with a new matching die set.  The die set called "Frosty's Snow" also includes two snowflakes.  Who ever has enough snowflake dies? Not me.  The sentiment is from Echo Park.

Staying with my plaid theme here.  This one uses one of my new stamp images from Penny Black called "Wintertime Cheer".  The sentiment is an oldie from 2009 called "Joyous".  

How about this cute image.... it is also one include in the Wintertime Cheer set.  I couldn't wait to color him and bring him to life.  This sentiment is a combination made using the new "Festive Snippets" set.   I used copics to color the focal image and added the background afterwards using Distress Inks.   To create the frame around the image I masked the edge using strips of micro-pore tape.   It is easy to do and I think it adds a nice touch.

Just love this cute little owl as well.  I know I will use him over and over again in combination with many other Penny Black images but I thought he deserved his very own card.   He is a perfect fit for this small tag from the "Die-namics Tag Builder 5" set.  He is also in the "Wintertime Cheer" set and the sentiments are from "Festive Snippets" again.  The snowflakes are from the "Frosty's Snow" die set.  I added the white stitching around the edges with my favorite Uni-Ball Signo Gel pen.

As you can plainly see I really had some fun with this new set. This one is just another treatment of the cute puppy decked out for Christmas. I added the sweet little bird friend and the Joyous sentiment.   Of course... glitter for that holiday festive sparkle that I love.  Speaking of glitter.... here another glittery "Snowy" card that I made a few days ago. 

This post probably breaks all guidelines and suggestions for length but I wanted to share a glimpse of what I did over the weekend.
I did take time out to watch our Chicago Cubs make history. Only 4 wins to go!

Vintage Christmas Card

Made this one for the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #217.  I have been trying to play along with this challenge for awhile and today I was determined.  I barely made the deadline but this is going to be my first entry.  There are a lot of very talented card makers who are regular contributors.  Christmas cards are my favorite and I make plenty of them each year.  I usually end up sending out about 70 and since I don't like to do a lot of duplicates there is a lot to get done.  I don't ever consider it work because for me it is fun. The only hard part is getting them done in time so I start early.

The inspiration for this card was a beautiful card that I saw on Pintrest by Michelle Lupton for the layout and the Vintage Theme from the Challenge.  The patterned paper is from my stash and I am not sure of the company. Sorry.  The stamps are all Hero Arts.
