Floral Bliss & Lace Birthday Cards

My cards today were created as an entry in the Simon Says Stamp Flickr group challenge. You can find details and rules for the challenge HERE.  The challenge is to use a stencil in your creation.  I just got the beautiful Circular Lace by Simon Says Stamp which I thought would be fun to use in the challenge.

The idea for the background was a combination of a my original idea and a happy accident along the way.   I used a spray glimmer mist that has been in my stash for a long time from Tattered Angels to mist over the stencil.  This background was actually a piece of paper that I placed behind the panel that I was going to use for my card.  When I picked up my original panel I saw the impression that was left behind and liked it more.  It gave me the idea for this angled background.   .   

I have recently seen card makers adding a spray of adhesive to the back of the stencil to hold it in place.   I have to admit that I wasn't so sure about this... but thought I would give it a try.  It worked like a charm.  The next time I need to hold a stencil in place I will definitely do it again.  The only caution I would advise is to use the spray in a well ventilated area.

For the floral spray I stamped the flowers onto vellum using VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I turned the vellum over and used my copics to add some color to the backsides,  you don't even have to stay in the lines.  I then fussy cut out each of the flowers and leaves.  They are adhered in place using Scor Tape, the coloring keeps it from showing on the front side.   

This card is more of where I was headed with my original idea.  Used the same materials here with a different color scheme.  The small daisy flower is stamped and heat embossed onto a yellow card stock.  

I added some Liquid Pearl drops to the top card and white Nuvo drops to the second card.  In the end I have two cards that are created with the same idea in mind and two different looks.

Color Magic Slider Card

Hello, it has been awhile since my last blog post.   I have been very busy, in good ways.  My garden which had been neglected before my knee replacement is finally getting some of the attention that it has missed.  The garden is finally looking good again and I can take some time for my other passion.
Today's card was just so much fun to create.  I have recently been fascinated by the interactive cards that are appearing online.  Why not give it a try?  This is what I came up with.  The cute stamp set along with the fun sentiment is from the Honey Bee stamp company.  This is a new company to me but the stamp images are so darn cute.

The slider portion of the card is a combination of dies from Lawn Fawn and Simon Says stamp.  All of the supplies are listed below.  

I have discovered that I can use a Multipurpose Transparency Film to stamp onto using Archival Ink instead of StazOn.  This transparency film is created to use with printers but the same treatment that makes it printable makes it perfect for stamping.

Animation Trio from May SSS Kit

My first card is all about fluttering butterflies.   By using my square die set I created a film strip like effect for the motion section of the card.   The tiny butterflies are from a paper punch by Recollections, that I purchased at Michaels several years ago.  I also used a 3/4 " circle paper punch from EK Success to create the tab detail.   Though I rarely use punches these days, for this card I made use of two paper punches.  They were just the tool I needed.

For the card above I went with the heart theme from one of the patterned papers in the kit.  When the heart stamp from the kit is combined with the grid line acetate it seems to dance across the card.  Again I made use of the circle paper punch for the ends of my pull strip.  The frame for the motion feature was created using a Spellbinders die "Labels Twelve" combined with a square die.   The stitched line was added using a die from SSS "Bundle of Stitched Shapes".
This sentiment is one from Hero Arts called "Good Friends".   If you look closely you will see that I made a mistake on this one that I didn't notice until it was fully assembled.   The hearts on the patterned paper are upside down.

This last one is my favorite of the three.  I made a tag  using Die-namics "Tag Builder" that slides into a pocket with the grid acetate.  The vertical element makes a great place to add a fun greeting.  This one is made using a stamp and die set by Lawn Fawn called "Happy, Happy, Happy", really one of my favorites.

Going Wild With SSS April Kit

I have been making lots of children's cards lately and this month's kit from Simon Says Says is perfect for these cards and makes my card making time more like play time for me.  Love this newly released stamp set from the kit called "Wild Cuddly Critters" . 

I put the cute giraffe on a die cut tag for this first card.  All of the dies that I used for this card are in my supply list below.  This card and the one below will be going to the charity "Cards for Hospitalized Kids" .   This set is, also going to be great for making birthday cards for my many grand nieces and nephews.

The card above is a see thru shaker card.  The see thru shakerw have been showing up on online lately and I thought I would give it a try.  The shaker mix is one of my own creation from my stash of sequins.  I tried to make a mix that would match the colors in the card.
