Hero Arts Daisy Anniversary Card

It's spring here in Chicago and I have been out in my garden doing a bit of prep work but it is a little early to plant most flowers and vegetables.  We have been known to get a snow or freeze in April.  That doesn't mean that I am not creating flowers in my craft studio.  This Mini Slimline Anniversary card features the "Bees & Flowers Fancy Dies" from Hero Arts.

The finished card size is 3 1/2" by 6 1/2".   I used Canon XL watercolor paper to make a panel measuring 3" by 6" and to cut the bee and flowers dies.  For my background, I cut an oval from masking paper and placed it onto the panel before applying a light wash of Daniel Smith's Phthalo Green Blue.  The same Phthalo Green color was used for the grasses on the background and the flower stems.   I used Daniel Smith's Yellow Hansa Medium, Quineridone Gold and Raw Umber to color the flowers, making a total of only 4 watercolors.  My sentiment die is also from Hero Arts. It is the "Happy Stamp & Cut" .   To color my bee I just used a Momento Black Marker and a Nuvo Opal Quartz Aqua Shimmer Pen

I am entering this card in the Anniversary Challenge at "A Blog Named Hero".  This challenge is to celebrate the 9th Anniversary of the blog.  If you have not checked the blog out I would highly recommend it.  You are sure to come away with some inspiration for using your Hero Arts products.

Thanks for dropping by my blog.  Your questions, comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Hero Arts Hummingbird Cards

Hello friends and fellow card makers!  I am excited to share with you two cards that I made using the Hero Arts "Color Layering Hummingbird" set.  It was so much fun to see this beautiful hummingbird image come to life with the easy color layering.  I think it is one of those sets that I will be using many times in the future.

For my first card I used exclusively Hero Arts for my stamps and dies.  This includes the  "Color Layering Hummingbird" stamp & die combo, "Oval Woodgrain Frames Infinity Dies"and oldie but favorite cling stamp from Hero called "Envelope Liner Background" (unfortunately I don't think this one is currently available).

This second card has the addition of a few other dies from my collection.  The panel die is Spellbinders "Hemstitch Rectangles"   The sentiment die is a new one from the Greetery "Spring" die with the small banner die "Happy" greeting also from The Greetery  stamp & die set called "Pretext Sentiments" .

On both of my cards, I used a selection of Hero Arts inks to stamp my hummingbird and flowers and found lining up this layering set was easier than most.  For the second card, I masked the center of my rectangle and used "Speckled Egg" Distress Oxide to lightly blend from the outside edge toward the center.  The "Oval Woodgrain" frame was cut from white cardstock and also inked with "Speckled Egg" Distress Oxide.

Thanks for dropping by to see my work.  I hope you found something to inspire your own creations.  Your questions, comments and suggestions are always most welcome.

Congrats, New Baby Card

Hello, everyone.  Don't you love making a cute baby card?  That is what I am sharing today.  This one was created for a dear friend who was recently blessed with a new grand daughter.  I use a die set from MFT called  "Bundle of Baby Clothes" and patterned papers from Carta Bella "Flower Cart".  This paper was included in the SSS March Card Kit.  Those tiny hearts are my among my most favorite embellishments and come from Doodlebug Designs "Tiny Heart Sprinkles".   I like it when I can pull products from many different companies and put them all together.  In this one card I used the clouds from the Lawn Fawn "Spring Showers Dies", the embossing folder from Sunny Studios "Quilted Hearts",  sentiment die from Hero Arts "Congrats Stamp & Die" and a "Sentiment Strip" from SSS.   That's at least 8 different companies and I am not counting the adhesives, tools etc.  I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  The challenge was to use 2 or more patterned papers in your card.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.  I hope that I answered any questions but if you have more feel free to ask in my comments.  Your questions, comments and suggestions are always most welcome.

SSS Best Friend Ever

I am just loving this floral image set from Simon Says Stamp called "Best Friend Ever".  My background was an experiment with a gel press that couldn't really stand out alone but it worked for me as an inspiration for coloring my flowers.  I used copic markers for the florals in the image.  The "Wonky Stitched" die is an older one but still available from Avery Elle.
I am entering this one in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  Thank you for dropping by to check out my work.  Your comments, questions and suggestions are always welcome.

I finally got to pull out my January My Monthly Hero Kit and have some time to play.   It is such a pretty set with it's large florals and chubby bumble bees.  For this first card I created my own background patterned paper using a brayer to add Dusty Concord Distress Oxide over a older stencil from TCW called Mini Tiny Circles.  I also added a scattering of the honeycomb stamp from the set.

This is the second card that put together using some of the leftover bits that I colored for the first card.   The heart honeycomb is a pairing of the die from the kit and Hero Arts Nesting Hearts dies.

Thanks for dropping by to check out my latest creations.   As always your comments, questions or suggestions are welcome.

LOVE is in the air!

Today I am sharing a fun Valentine Card I created using the Simon Says Stamp February Card Kit.   I used the stamps "Love You Beary Much" and the patterned paper "Simple Stories Sweet Talk"  from this month's kit and paired it with a die for the center step card from the Stamp Doctor.   The coloring was done with my Copic markers.  The little clay hearts are Sprinklets "Sweet Hearts"

Thanks for dropping in for a look at my latest card.  Your comments, questions and suggestions are always most welcome.
