Cardinals Christmas Cards

Today I am sharing two cards featuring Cardinals.  They are so beautiful and such a glorious sight on a wintery day, a bright point of color during our cold and snowy season.  My first card is one that I made for the Merry Mondays Challenge #220 the theme for this week is "door decorations".   I thought the wreath would be a nice background and something that I definitely use for door decoration.

This card features stamps from Hero Arts.  I masked off the edges of watercolor paper with micro pore tape and started by sponging in some Distress Ink for the background color. I transferred the panel to my Misti with the micro pore still attached and added the script detail in the background.  The wreath was also done using the Misti.  It was stamped several times, adding Distress Inks to the stamp and repeating, until I was happy with the look.  For the cardinal, I  colored it with Copic Markers and then fussy cut it.  The sentiment is also by Hero Arts. It is an older set that I own and use often but I am not sure that it is still available.  The tiny bow is a die cut from Memory Box that I received from my friend Lisa.

My second card uses another favorite stamp from a couple of years ago by Our Daily Bread.  I am pretty sure this one is still available.    I made this card as part of a sample for this month's challenge with the Flickr LOVE group.  The theme this month is "SNOW".   Originally, I thought that this would be a shaker card but changed my mind.   I thought the shaker mix would hide the cardinals from view.  The "Stitched Circles" from Lil Inker Designs has a die that is perfect size for this ornament image.  I used Copic Markers to color this one as well.  I used one of the grey markers to define the outline of the ornament.  The patterned paper is from "Santa's List" by Teresa Collins.  This sentiment also comes from the same Hero Arts set that I used on the first card.

Thanks for dropping by my blog.  Your comments, suggestions and questions are always welcome.
