Classic Masculine Cards

This weekend I put my efforts into making a few masculine cards.  The goal was to make a Father's Day card for my husband.  Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge this week is to maker a masculine card and the suggested product happens to be my favorite.  This means that naturally a couple of these will be added to the challenge this week.  All four cards use the dragonfly image from the Stampers Anonymous collection,"Classic #1" cling set.

My  first card is the one for my husband.   Tim Holtz watercolor paper was used to make all four cards.  I masked off a narrow border using micro pore tape then, sponged in some color with Distress Ink.  I used Old Paper, Weathered Wood and Antique Linen here.   I used the Distress Ink and the water painting technique to color the dragonfly and the postal stamp using barn door.  As a finishing touch I masked the dragonfly and spritz with gold shimmer mist.   The Father's Day sentiment is from a Kelly Purkey Set from SSS called "Dude".  I layered the focal image over a rectangle of burlap.   The burlap is from DCWV.  Also, added a bit of twine as an embellishment.

My second card is very similar.  This is a get well card. I added a partial stamp image from another Tim Holtz set, "French Market".  The sentiment is from the Tim Holtz cling set called "Saying Stuff" which I used for this one and my birthday card below.  This card has a  stronger gold influence.  The gold splatter is Heidi Swapp  "Gold Color Shine".  The image is layered on a piece of marine blue cardstock and then adhered to a shiny gold A-6 sized card.

If you closely you may see a bit of shimmer on the wings.  I painted a iridescent watercolor over the wings.   My fourth card is a blank card that I think could be used for almost any sort of message you may want to send to anyone.   It also uses the addition of stamps from the "French Market" set.   It may be my personal favorite.

Thank you dropping in to see my cards.   Your comments, questions and suggestions are always most welcome.
